Description
This gold bullion coin celebrates the Little Hero nugget which was discovered in 1890 by a prospecting party near Shaw Falls near Marble Bar in Western Australia’s arid north-west. Before being melted, the 333-ounce nugget was exhibited at the Union Bank office in Perth where it sparked significant public excitement.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
No more than 7,500 of the Little Hero Nugget 2022 1oz Gold Bullion Coin will be released.
DESIGN
The reverse of each coin portrays the Little Hero natural gold nugget on a pattern of radial lines with the inscription ‘LITTLE HERO 1890’ and ‘AUSTRALIAN NUGGET’. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the 2022 year-date and the coin’s weight and fineness are also included in the reverse design.
The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are depicted on each coin’s obverse.
PRESENTATION
The Little Hero Nugget 2022 1oz Gold Bullion Coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule.
AUTHENTICATION FEATURE
Each coin’s reverse includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
