This beautiful coin, also known as a “Trade coin” was originally issued for large transactions between neighboring countries and was issued by Austria in 1612, probably even earlier.
The last regular issue was in 1914. All ducats dated 1915 are official restrikes incredibly popular among investors for their gold content and historical design.
The obverse side of the coin bears the profile of Franz Joseph I, while the reverse features the Coat of Arms of Austria superimposed upon a crowned double-headed imperial eagle.
