Description
2024 Perth Mint Silver Super Pit Coin 1oz
This outstanding 1oz silver bullion coin celebrates the iconic Super Pit mine.
Discovered during the 1890s, the Golden Mile near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia was once said to be the
richest square mile of gold reserves in the world. Most of its original workings were swallowed up during the 20th
century with the creation of an enormous open pit that continues to produce remarkable quantities of gold. At
almost 3.5km long, 1.5km wide and more than 600m deep, the Super Pit produces approximately 700,000 ounces
of gold each year.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian
Currency Act 1965.
No more than 100,000 of the Super Pit 2024 1oz Silver Bullion Coin will be released.
DESIGN
The coin portrays a view from deep within the Super Pit. Intricate detailing
highlights the pit’s stepped slopes and the roadways used by haul trucks.
As well as the inscription ‘SUPER PIT AUSTRALIA 2024 1oz 9999
SILVER’, the reverse also incorporates a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The
Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.
The coin’s obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King
Charles III and the monetary denomination.
AUTHENTICATION FEATURE
For additional peace of mind, the coin incorporates an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved
letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be
counterfeited.
