Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins are one of the longest-running gold bullion series in the world today. Introduced in 1979, this series has become an icon with its continued use of the sugar maple leaf design on the reverse and its evolving effigies of Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse.

Coin Highlights:

  • Excellent condition, buy-back  coins
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $5 (CAD) by Canada.
  • Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse.
  • The sugar maple leaf is on the reverse.

The Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Gold Maple Leaf series in 1979. At this point in history, only the South African Gold Krugerrand was available to investors as a gold bullion coin. A growing Western economic boycott against South Africa as retaliation for its continued apartheid policies led to mints across the Western world introducing their own gold bullion coins.

On the obverse of 2009 1/10oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins, you will find the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation bust of the Queen on Canadian coinage and was designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt.

The reverse face of 2009 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coins features the sugar maple leaf. This design was created for the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979 by Walter Ott and is a staple of the series. It has proven so iconic that the mint uses it as the reverse design of the silver, platinum, and palladium versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf bullion coins.

These hard-to-come-by 2009 1/10oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins are available to you in excellent buy-back condition. No capsules, instead encased in their own individual sleeves.
