The Austrian Philharmonic 1oz silver coin is the best-selling silver bullion coin on the European continent. Introduced in 2008, it is a relatively new coin on the continent but it did not take long for investors on the continent to seek out the design that was already in use on the gold bullion version of the coin.

Coin Highlights:

  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver in BU condition.
  • The face value of 1.50 (Euro) is fully backed by the Austrian government.
  • A view of the Great Organ in the Golden Concert Hall, or Musikverein, is featured on the obverse.
  • Musical instruments used by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra are depicted on the reverse.

The first release of the Austrian Silver Philharmonic was met with intense demand. The initial 2008 debut coins sold a total of 7.773 million coins. Over the course of the first five years the coin was available from 2008 to 2012, a total of 54 million units were sold in this series. The Austrian Silver Philharmonic shares the same designs on the obverse and reverse as the gold and platinum versions.

The Great Organ is a fixture of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performances in the Musikverein, also known as the Golden Concert Hall. Depicted on the obverse of the 2020 Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coin, this is the home concert hall for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and it is located in the Innere Stadt neighbourhood in the federal capital city of Vienna.

Several musical instruments are depicted on the reverse of the 2020 1 oz Austrian Silver Philharmonic Coin. The design centres on a cello, with four violins, a bassoon, a harp, and a French horn depicted around it in the design field.
